Drew Peterson at Austin ArtWorks Festival

Austin ArtWorks Festival, Austin, MN

Performing on Sat Aug 24 at 12pm in the tent in front of the KMSU Mankato Outdoor Stage at the Austin ArtWorks Festival. With clever, dry humor and thought- provoking lyrics, Drew Peterson’s music is like oil over gravel. Drawing on influences from John Prine, Tom Waits, Cat Stevens, Van Morrison, among others, Peterson offers the world upbeat tunes with a soft- spoken gravitas that belies his years. The Austin ArtWorks Festival is a FREE two-day event in Austin, MN held annually each August celebrating visual, performing, and literary artists.

A note on our Shut Up and Listen Show:

Our shows are outside weather permitting. Please bring lawn/festival chairs or a blanket for sitting on the lawn on front of our porch. We serve a limited cocktail menu, drinks (non alcoholic drinks are available.) and some snacks. Doors open at 6:30. If it looks like rain the show will be moved inside the distillery.

We want everyone to enjoy the shows as much as possible. With the changes in laws we know some fans want to partake in smoking marijuana on the property. We ask that you please plan to sit near the back to have as little impact on the enjoyment of all patrons. Note with only fifty tickets sold, the back is still pretty close. For inside shows all smoking needs to be outside.

We also have plenty of space for anyone who would like to distance at public events.

Drew Peterson

Drew and His wife Jenny helped to make this Shut Up and Listen Thing happen. I can't get enough of what Drew Peterson brings as a Musician and a friend. Drew is a delightful Minnesota original. He writes songs about the everyday, instilling importance, urgency, and heart into songs we can all relate to. Drew is a unique and wonderful storyteller. By the end of the show, you feel like he was talking directly to you the whole time. Check out the video for Selma below. In my book, this is a perfect song.

Peterson has built a unique brand that transcends the genre. With clever, dry humor and thought- provoking lyrics, Peterson’s music is like oil over gravel. Drawing on influences from John Prine, Tom Waits, Cat Stevens, Van Morrison, among others, Peterson offers the world upbeat tunes with a soft- spoken gravitas that belies his years. With a performance style that can transform from intimate listening room to rowdy festivals and bars, Peterson always gives his heart and soul to the stage. And with each new performance, he works to connect with the audience through storytelling.
